TURF NEWSLETTER 10 / O6 Fall Programs - 26/36-Snow Mold - Brown Patch
Although the summer has come to a close, the disease season has not. Fall brings with it a new set of challenges. One of them is cool season brown patch (also known as yellow patch). Caused by the fungus Rhizoctonia cerealis, cool season brown patch typically becomes a problem in the fall and spring during periods of rainy, overcast weather. Improving surface drainage, applying labeled fungicides in fall and fertilizing in the spring after the turf has broken dormancy can lessen or prevent the severity of disease outbreaks and promote recovery. Also, it has been demonstrated that fungicide treated turf recovers more quickly from disease than non-treated turf. Endorse Turf Fungicide, classified as an EPA Biopesticide and labeled for control of cool season brown patch, is a reduced risk pesticide that delivers the level of control you expect. Data from leading universities demonstrates the efficacy of Endorse Turf Fungicide on cool season brown patch, as well as other diseases.
